Artist statement

We are a collective of four artists who use painting to explore boundaries — the “in-between” of the real and the imagined, the solid and the fluid, the known and the yet-to-come. Our work begins with the idea of water as a driving force: a force that moves space, and thought with it. Its reflections, currents and unstable surfaces become a metaphor for a world in constant transformation, and for our own need to find meaning and calm within change.

Our works come into being freely, intuitively and in layers. Print and acrylic on canvas form the base, which we build up with gesture, colour and traces that recall maps of movement, waves or inner states. We also work with recycled materials, because they embody the cyclical movement of nature. Elements of clear acrylic (plexiglass) add a further dimension: transparent planes, reflections and shadows turn the painting into a kind of mirror — a space in which the viewer comes closer, shifts position, moves perspective and finds a new meaning.

Recycling is an essential part of our process. Reusing materials, fragments and layers is a conscious response to the question of resources, and a belief that a shift in ecological awareness is possible. We want the viewer to experience stillness, tension and calm at once — to feel, through reflection, the space and time in which we work, and to arrive at a personal awareness of themselves, of space, and of the world still to come.
